Let the Holiday Party Season Begin!

The holidays are always a busy time for us, but we still manage to the find time to party down. And last night, we attended the New York debut of Kora’s beautiful jewelry. Based in Rwanda, Kora is all about merging jewelry design with socially-minded economic development. Part of the profit from each amazing piece made from horn goes back to the community. We are super excited to work with clients like Kora who care deeply about a greater cause. And we also love hanging out at fancy parties. A perfect match! Here are a few snapshots captured between saying hello to some of the fabulous guests and trying on the jewelry. Love those rings!

Now that the party is over, we are looking forward to helping them with their branding and more in the near future!

The Party

The other night we attended the Race to Deliver Kick-Off party at Baccarat and the La Perla Fall 2008 Preview (with proceeds going to Gilda’s Club New York). If you read the blog it may look like all we do is go to parties and host parties, but the truth is we’d rather be home catching the latest episode of Mad Men. It just so happened that both events were on the same night and within 10 blocks of each other, not to mention the free champagne. So we made an appearance at both events and it turned out to be a rather pleasant evening.

Christian Cota Spring/Summer 2009 Show

Christian Cota with Entire Collection

Christian Cota with Entire Collection

The Christian Cota show was a more casual of an event than the La Perla one. It was a daytime viewing that was much in the same style as La Perla. Several models stood on a stage so you could view the collection as a whole. I have to say that I like this new way of presenting better than the normal runway show. It’s a little less dramatic, but you get to take your time and really observe the pieces. Usually at runway shows you get all dressed up, wait in line for thirty minutes, wait in your seat for another 15, then a 10 minute show.

That being said, Christian’s collection was quite spectacular. Draped in loose and airy warms and whites, the collection was a light and playful with a serious sophistication. This Impressionist inspired collection definitely left us impressed! At the young age of 26, and only having 3 shows thus far, Christian is showing serious promise in becoming a superstar designer. Apparently, we’re not the only ones to think so. Christian has already received tons of press and was even called “Mexico’s answer to Oscar de la Renta” on Page 6 of the NY Post. We wish him the best and look forward to seeing him grow.

La Perla Spring/Summer 2009 Show

New York City Fashion Week is a fun and busy time for us. We have several fashion clients, one of the perks of which is the Fashion Shows! La Perla, a recent addition to our client roster, had a presentation on the top of the Empire Hotel at the beginning of fashion week. It was more of a party than your typical runway show. The models sat (or lounged) around while the audience looked on, mingled and consumed drinks.

Separated into three groups-Swimwear, Ready to Wear and Lingerie-the models would change clothes every half hour or so. As an added surprise, the models were wearing magnificent jewelry from Stephen Russell, another client of ours.

The gallery-like display of collections seems to be a growing trend among the fashion community as we will tell you about when we post about the Christian Cota collection. For, now here are Pix’s pics of the show…
